    Castiglion Fiorentino

    Etruscan-Roman origins, the original city medieval wall remains almost fully intact dominated by the Cassero where you will find Etruscan ruins. In the Municipal Museum you can view preserved valuable works of the thirteenth century goldsmith and paintings by Margaritone, Taddeo Gaddi, Bartolomeo della Gatta and Giorgio Vasari. The sixteenth-century portico in front of the Town Hall is a beautifully design architectural balcony from which you can admire the Val di Chio. There are many cultural events, sports, music, food and wine festivals including the Palio dei Rioni and the month of May ‘Castiglionese’ where artistic installations are installed throughout the city.

    Cortona (10 Kms)

    Located on a hill, 600 meters above sea level Cortona is one of the most ancient Etruscan cities. The Basilica of Santa Margherita and the Franciscan sanctuary Le Celle invite visitors to discover Cortona through an itinerary of art and faith within walking distance from the historic center. Also worth seeing is the new Etruscan Academy Museum (which inaugurated the new collections in September 2005) and the Diocesan Museum, a small chest that contains works by great local artists such as Luca Signorelli and one of the most beautiful Annunciation by Fra Angelico.

    Arezzo (18 Kms)

    Its origins are Etruscan and perhaps it was one of the 12 original Etruscan cities. Arezzo preserves a precious history, beginning with people which were born there and have became famous in the world: Cilnio Gaius Maecenas, Petrarch, Giorgio Vasari, Francesco Redi, Guido d’Arezzo and Pietro Aretino. Besides the monuments and churches, the old town is worth a careful visit, during which you will discover beautiful palaces, characteristic architectural aspects and an evocative atmosphere, especially during the famous Giostra del Saracino.

    Perugia is in Umbria, is the economic capital, an important artistic and architectural gem.
